Privacy Policy
Tales From Today ("we", "us") publishes one true story for every day of the year. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
What we collect
If you subscribe to the daily email
- Your email address.
- Whether you have confirmed your subscription, when you signed up, and a record of which daily emails were sent to you (so no one receives the same day's email twice).
If you send us feedback
- The name and email address you choose to give us (both are optional), and your message.
- Your browser's identifier and a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address, used only to block spam and limit how many messages one visitor can send.
When you visit the site
- Like almost every website, our web host keeps standard server logs: your IP address, the pages requested, the date and time, and your browser type. We use these to keep the site running and secure.
- We do not use advertising trackers, analytics services, or social-media tracking scripts. The share buttons on story pages are ordinary links, and nothing is sent to those services unless you click one.
Cookies
We set a single, temporary security cookie only when you use a form on the site (subscribe, feedback, unsubscribe). It protects the form from forgery, is deleted when you close your browser, and is not used for tracking or advertising. Merely reading stories sets no cookies.
How we use your information
- To send you the daily email you asked for, and the confirmation email when you sign up.
- To reply to feedback you send us.
- To operate, secure and improve the site, and to prevent abuse.
- To meet legal obligations.
Our emails do not contain tracking pixels or per-subscriber tracking links. We do not know whether you opened an email or which links you clicked.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We only share it with:
- Our hosting provider, which stores the site's data and delivers its email on our behalf, under its own security and privacy practices.
- Authorities, if we are legally required to, or to protect the rights, safety and security of our visitors or the site.
We publish each day's story on social media such as X. Only the public story title and link are posted, never subscriber information.
How long we keep it
We keep subscriber records while you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address marked as unsubscribed so that we honor your choice and do not email you again; ask us and we will delete it entirely. Feedback messages are kept until we delete them. Server logs are kept for a short period by our host.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every email. It takes one click.
- Access, correct or delete your information by contacting us through the feedback form. We will act on reasonable requests promptly.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS, the administration area is password-protected, and we limit who can access subscriber data. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows when it last changed, and significant changes will be announced on the site.
